| 内容記述 | This paper attempts to delineate the underlying mechanism by which status orientation is produced through the status attainment process. We focus on the cognitive process that builds people's image of the allocation system. Data is analyzed from a survey of Japanese high school students' fathers. The result of regression analysis with interaction-effects shows that higher occupational status and effort-based allocation image promote status orientation, but there are interaction effects of respondents' status and their allocation image. For lower status people, allocation image has greater influence. 0n perception of the allocation system, we propose two hypotheses based mainly on attribution theory. 0ne is justification of self. The other is achievement motivation. Our results indicate that the justification hypothesis is supported, whereas further study is required concerning achievement motivation. | |||||
