| 内容記述 | Currently second foreign language learning takes a less important place in the curriculum of universities in Japan. For example, the students of Iwate Prefectural University are required to choose a second foreign language beside English, but they have only 30 lessons in all (once a week for one year). Moreover, the purpose and goal of studying a foreign language are vague for students. In these difficult conditions, language teachers are making efforts to construct more effective and interesting language lessons. The author found a solution to these problems in the communicative method of language teaching. The communicative method puts emphasis on developing communicative abilities of learners. The students of the author's class of Russian do not spend much time on grammar study, but concentrate on conversation and communication. This article is devoted to clarifying the problems of language teaching, to introducing the theory and the practice of the communicative method, and to analyzing the results of teaching. This is a case study of the author's Russian class in Iwate Prefectural University. | |||||
