The subjects were a total of 427 university students (199 males and 228 females) in the second or senior years living in the suburbs of Morioka City, Iwate, Japan. An unregistered and self-administered questionnaire was collected from them between July and October 2001 to comparatively investigate the situation regarding not eating breakfast, lunch or supper, eating between meals and late-night meals, usual food intake, future food intake, etc. by gender and by \"smoking\" and \"non-smoking\" groups. 1) The percentage of smokers was 30.7% for males and 12.3% for females. The percentage of non-smokers was 64.8% for males and 85.5% for females and the percentage of those who used to smoke was 4.5% and 2.2%, respectively.
