Responses were obtained from 378 of these women, and the data obtained revealed the following. 1. About 30% of the surveyed women were cohabiting with their parents, or living within a short distance from them. At least 90% of the women went regularly to hospital by car, taking an average of 34.1 minutes. Ninety-five (25.1%) of the women had a trouble when they chose the hospital. 2. At least 90% of the surveyed women recognized the role of a midwife, although the role was considered to be an indirect one by the majority.
