| 内容記述 | 2011 年3 月11 日の東日本大震災以降、254 の国・地域・国際機関(2011 年5 月2 日現在)から人的、物的、精神的な支援が日本に寄せられた。これまで幾十年に渡り外国の特定の都市と交流を続けてきた自治体にも、相手の都市から見舞の手紙や義援金・寄付金等が届けられた。震災から7ヵ月後に岩手県の各市町村を対象にして実施したアンケート調査をもとに、海外からの支援の詳細を明らかにするとともに、支援によって住民の国際交流に関する意識がどのように変容したかを考察した。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Approximately 65 percent of local governments in Iwate Prefecture have an international relationship with foreign cities. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting tsunami crushed the northeastern coast of the main island of Honshu, many of the devastated cities have received all kinds of support and services from abroad including words of consolation, prayers and donations. This article deals with the signifi cance of international relationships in a disaster where thousands of lives were lost and millions of yen worth of damage to structures was caused. The prolonged use of shelters for the countless evacuees continues into the present. This analysis is based upon the results of surveys conducted on the local governments in Iwate Prefecture in 2011. The article describes how the relief eff orts of foreign cities have modifi ed Japanese citizens' concepts of international relationships. Appreciation for fund raising activities abroad for reconstruction has allowed the people of local cities in Iwate Prefecture to gain new perspectives on the relationships with foreign cities as well as international cooperation throughout the globe. | |||||
