| 内容記述 | 宮沢賢治の有名な物語「銀河鉄道の夜」は、銀河鉄道の旅の部分が幻想的であるが、中で異質で写実的な部分が「プリオシン海岸挿話」で、白鳥の停車場での停車時間中に主人公のジョバンニとカムパネルラが化石の発掘現場を見てくる話である。旅中で唯一の途中下車で、モデルとなった出来事や場所が特定でき、この挿話を含む章には「北の十字架」と「プリオシン海岸」という二つの異なるテーマが収められ、章題も不自然に長くなっており、少年たちの言動が他の部分に比し大人びている、など多くの点で異質である。それらのことから、この挿話は元来は夢の旅の原稿とは別に書かれた独立の短編がのちに「銀河鉄道の夜」の中に挿入された部分であることがわかった。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Night on the Milky Way Railroad is one of Kenji Miyazawa's most prominent works, and is a novella depicting a trip on the Milky Way Railroad, consisting mainly of fantastic dreams, but a realistic episode at the Pliocene Coast has a nature different to the other components of the novella. This episode describes a visit during a stop of the train at Swan Station by the hero Giovanni and his travelling companion Campanella to a site where scholars are excavating fossils. In many respects, it differs from other parts of the novella: this is the only stopover during the trip of dreams; the event and place after which the episode was modeled can be identified; the chapter that includes the episode has two different themes, Northern Cross and Pliocene Coast; its title is extraordinarily long; and in this episode, the behavior and conversations of the boys are more similar to those of adults compared with other parts of the novella. From these many differences, it can be concluded that the Pliocene Coast episode was a sketch that was originally written separately from the manuscript about the dream trip, and that it was inserted into "Night on the Milky Way Railroad" later-a reason for it being different from other parts of the novella. | |||||
