| 内容記述 | 宮沢賢治の未完の作品「銀河鉄道の夜」の多くの登場人物のうち、燈台守は最も印象的なキャラクターの一人である。この燈台守はヘルクレス座の近くで銀河鉄道の客室内に現れる。彼は黄金のリンゴを持ってくるヘラクレスであるとともに、賢治と同郷の花巻出身の農業技術者・島善鄰博士でもあり、なおかつ北上河畔に一人立つ賢治自身でもあった。ヘルクレス座には燈台のような変光星もあり、島博士はゴールデンデリシャスを北国から日本に初めて導入している。この燈台守挿話は賢治作品における重層的世界の典型例の一つなのである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The lighthouse keeper is one of the most impressive characters in Kenji Miyazawa's unfinished novel, "Night of the Milky Way Railroad". He appears in a compartment of the Milky Way Train when the train is in vicinity of the constellation of Hercules. The character simultaneously represents Hercules, who stole the golden apples from the Garden of the Hesperides, Dr. Yoshichika Shima, an agricultural engineer from Hanamaki where Kenji was born, and Kenji himself, who is standing alone on the bank of the Kitakami River. There is a variable star in the constellation of Hercules that twinkle in the night sky like lighthouse and Dr. Shima imported Golden Delicious apples to Japan from the United State for the first time, Thus, this episode concerning the lighthouse keeper is a typical example of the multi-layered worlds that appear in Kenji's literary works. | |||||
