| 内容記述 | 宮沢賢治の寓話「茨海小学校」は、茨海の野原で農学校教師が狐小学校を参観してくるという話で、幻想的であり一般には童話とみなされているものの、大人向けの逆説的、風刺的な作品である。物語の発端である農学校教師が探した火山弾やハマナスについて検討し、岩手山麓、滝沢付近を茨海のモデルと推定した。しかし、狐小学校は賢治の勤めていた花巻農学校がモデルであることが、校舎の内部の構成や時間割、卒業生の進路、生徒や教師の性別など、多くの点から明らかになった。物語に草の罠や狐捕りの罠が登場するが、作品全体にさまざまな罠、トリックが散りばめられている。狐小学校の教育内容は、人間の学校、特に農学校のそれの裏返しというべきもので、狐の側からの見方と、人間の側からの見方とが対比的に描かれている。野生動物を考える環境教育の教材として「茨海小学校」は役立つと思われるが、対象者は子どもでなく、成人を相手とする生涯学習の教材に相応しいと考える。しかし、この作品の真骨頂は、いわゆる"擬人化"した狐物語のようにみえて、実は"擬獣化"(擬狐化)の物語であるところにある。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The "Baraumi Elementary School," one of the fables created by Kenji Miyazawa, is a story of an agricultural schoolteacher visiting a foxes' school in a field in Baraumi. Although it is a fantastical tale generally regarded as a fairy tale, it is nonetheless a paradoxic and satiric story intended for grown-ups. The author studied the lava bombs and rugosa rose which the agricultural teacher was looking for at the outset of the story, and supposed that the imaginary place called Baraumi was modeled after a place called Takizawa and its vicinity at the base of Mt.Iwate. The author found the foxes' elementary school, however, to be modeled after the Hanamaki School of Agriculture, for which Kenji once worked, from the analysis of the interior layout of the school building, class schedule, post-graduation careers of school graduates, sexes of students and teachers, and other factors described in the story. A variety of tricks, such as grass tricks and fox hunting tricks, are described here and there in the story. What is taught at the foxes' school should be seen as the opposite of what is taught at a typical Japanese school, particularly the agricultural school. The foxes' viewpoint and the humans' viewpoint are contrastively depicted. Although the "Baraumi Elementary School" may be useful as a teaching material on the environment, particularly in terms of wildlife, it should best serve as a life education material for grownups rather than children. What makes this story most worthwhile is that it looks like an "anthropomorphic" story of foxes but in reality can be a "bestiomorphic" (or more precisely "vulpiomorphic") story. | |||||
