| 内容記述 | 1894年刊行の志賀重昂著『日本風景論』における西南日本の火山に関する記載には、他地域の火山記載と同じく論文等からの剽窃が多いことを指摘するとともに、他地域に比し、歴史的、宗教的記載が多いことを明らかにした。志賀は、さらに台湾の領有(1885年)以後の版には、「今や我皇の版圖は台湾島に擴張して」と書き、風景が火山力という「后土」によって造られ、領有は「皇天」の賦与を受けた「我皇」が行うと説いて、天皇の軍隊の侵略による版図の拡大を正当化したのである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | "This paper reveals that descriptions by Shigetaka Shiga in his Nihon Fukeiron, published in 1894, on volcanoes in Southwestern Japan contain a great deal that he plagiarized from other articles, just as he did for his descriptions on volcanoes in other districts of Japan, and that those descriptions deal more with historical and religious aspects compared with those on other districts. Shiga writes ""The domain of our Emperor now extends to Taiwan"" in its later version published after Japan's occupation of Taiwan (1885) and theorizes that the landscape is created by ""kohdo, "" or volcanic force, and that our Emperor, who was given ""kohten"" or providence, has the right to reign over the island, thereby justifying the expansion of domination by invasion of the Imperial army." | |||||
