| 内容記述 | 「東海」は多義的な地名である。現在では,東海道,東海地方,東海工業地帯など,本州中部の地名として用いられることが多い。いうまでもなく本来の「東海」は,日本列島の東側の海域の名である。歴史的には,日本をとりまく海を東海,南海,西海,北海とした4区分が明治維新まで用いられていた。「東海」の範囲は伊勢湾沖から津軽海峡まで,もしくは北海道南西岸沖までであった。現在の「東海」の用例は,本来の「東海」の西半に偏っている。筆者は本来の「東海」の東半,北東日本の海岸や沖合を環境重視型の「新東海国土軸」とすることを提唱したい。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Tokai (literally, "East Sea") is a multivocal place name. Today, in most cases of "Tokai" marks a place name in the central area of the Honshu Island, for example "Tokai-do", "Tokai-Chiho (District)" dnd "Tokai-Kogyo-chitai (Industrial Regfon)". Needless to say, the original. "Tokai" designated the waters of the eastern sea of the Japanese Islands. The historical division of the sea surrounding Japan consists of four parts : "Tokai" (East Sea), "Nankai" (South Sea), "Saikai" (West Sea), "Hokkai" (North Sea), all used until the Meiji Restoration. "Tokai" extended from the offering of Ise Bay to the Tsugaru Strait or the offering of the southwestern coast of Hokkaido. The existing usage of the place name "Tokai" is limited to the western half of the original "Tokai". The author proposes the new idea of "Shin-Tokai Kokudojlku" (literally, "New Tokai National Land Axis") as an environment-oriented area along the coast and offering of Northeastern Japan, namely the coastal area of the eastern half of the original "Tokai". | |||||
